BOTTLE RECYCLING MACHINE USING MACHINE LEARNING
Everyday about 1.3 Billion plastic bottles are used all over the world. Most of which end up in landfills or as litter. Plastic bottles can be recycled, to transform it into other household products. Being cheaper to produce than to recycle, recycling is shadowed. Most of the segregation is done manually to separate plastic bottles from other aluminum and metal cans in recycling, which increases labor cost. We propose a unique design for bottle categorization using a machine learning algorithm. The system consists of Raspberry Pi coupled to a camera. Since no sensor can accurately identify plastic bottles, this task is completed using a machine learning algorithm. Reward is given to the user to encourage recycling behavior. The proposed design provides accurate identification of bottles and effective recycling at low cost.
