Selection of Sagarmatha Engineering College Students for Erasmus+ Abroad Mobility Program Completed

Sagarmatha Engineering College (SEC) has been involving in a various international projects and mobility programs co-funded by Erasmus+ Program of the European Union. One of them is a mobility program with the Universidad Politechnica de Cartagena (UPCT), Spain under the “Erasmus+ Key Action-1 Mobility Program” for students in higher education. According to the agreement between SEC and UPCT, four students from SEC will be involving in different academic activities at UPCT, Spain for a duration of five months in the upcoming spring semester. The mobility program aims to expose the students to European academic environment, learn new languages, increase self-confidence and self-respect, learning new skills, enhance inter-cultural awareness, and improve their employability. The students will receive a grant for travel and cost of living for the period as specified in the grant agreement.

SEC runs Bachelor level programs in Civil, Computer, and Electronics and Communication Engineering fields. The final year students of SEC in these programs are targeted in the Erasmus+ student mobility program. The college invited applications from the interested students for the abroad student mobility program on September 10, 2021. Total eighteen (18) students from the three Engineering programs were received within the given deadline.

Twelve candidates were shortlisted from the eighteen applicants by the “Selection Committee” formed by the “College Management” based on the criteria set-up and approved by the college.

Interviews of the twelve short-listed applicants were conducted by the selection committee on September 24, 2021. Based on the defined criteria for interview (English language proficiency, personality and confidence, and overall impression) the twelve candidates were ranked based on the total scores obtained by the candidates in the first screening and interviews. Based on the evaluation scores and also considering the departmental quota, four students have been recommended for the mobility program 2019-21 to UPCT.

The students were notified about final selection of the four candidates on October 06, 2021 by publishing a notice on the college website.
